Japanese Typewriter Cotton

Japanese Typewriter Cotton

Our typewriter cotton is a lightweight, densely woven cloth with a crisp, papery handle that softens beautifully with wear.

Woven in Japan from 100% cotton, the fabric is hand-dyed in small batches by a specialist producer in central Tokyo using organic dyes. The hand-dyeing gives the cloth a subtle depth and variation of colour that is difficult to achieve through industrial dyeing.

Lightweight yet durable, it has a distinctive structure that works particularly well with Colenimo's relaxed, unstructured shapes.

Fabric covered buttons, made in London

Fabric covered buttons, made in London

All of our fabric covered buttons are made to order in East London at a historic haberdashery that has served the city’s garment industry for more than 110 years.

Using traditional button presses, each piece is individually made, a small detail that brings character to the finished piece.

Made at the North London factory

Made at the North London factory

The majority of our garments are made in the same North London factory we have worked with for over a decade. Over that time we have built a close working relationship grounded in trust, mutual respect and shared standards.

The factory is a short journey from us, and we are there regularly – reviewing samples, discussing details and refining patterns. Design and production are not separate stages; they are part of a single continuous process. From fabric sourcing and initial ideas through to pattern cutting, sewing and finishing, we are involved throughout.

We are proud of the garments that leave the workshop and of the skilled people who bring them to life.
