About

Colenimo is a small clothing label founded by Aya Burns, based in a shop on Columbia Road in East London.

The collection is built around continuity. Familiar shapes: a balmacaan coat, a tailored jacket, a smock return in different fabrics and weights over time. Some pieces remain in the collection for years, evolving slightly but staying recognisable. Customers often return to the same shape in another fabric, building a wardrobe over time.

Fabric is central. Materials such as Irish linen, tweed and sheepskin are chosen for how they feel, wear and age. An undyed herringbone tweed, made from the natural colours of different sheep, is a good example: brown-grey, with subtle variation, hardwearing and softly structured. Cloth that improves with use.

Everything is designed by Aya, who is often in the shop. The Columbia Road store has been open for seven years and continues to shape the collection through conversation, fittings and daily use. Before this, Colenimo worked on a seasonal wholesale model, selling through shops in the UK, Japan, the US and South Korea. The move to Columbia Road marked a shift away from that, towards a slower, more direct way of working.

The brand remains intentionally small. Production is limited, and most pieces are made in the UK in close collaboration with a small number of makers and workshops. This allows for a more considered process, and a direct relationship with the people who wear the clothes.

The shop itself is small and easy to miss. Many people find it by chance, and return to it over time.
