Shop Accessibility Information

Our shop is located on historic Columbia Road in a property originally built in the 1800s. Due to the age and size of the building, it was not designed with modern accessibility requirements in mind.

We want the shop to be accessible to as many people as possible and will always do our best to help with any access requirements where we can. This page explains the main things that may affect physical access to the shop, so you can plan your visit in advance.

If you have any concerns or specific access requirements before visiting, please contact us and we will do everything we reasonably can to help.

Email us at info@colenimo.com or send us a DM on Instagram.

Step-free access and entrance ramp

There is a small step at the entrance to the shop.

The step is approximately 7.5cm high. This may restrict access for some wheelchair users, mobility aid users, pushchairs or anyone who finds steps difficult.

We have access to a portable ramp that can be used to help overcome the step. Please understand that it may take us a little time to set the ramp up safely, especially during busy periods. There is generally only one person working in the shop at any time, so please bear with us.

The ramp setup is shown in the diagram below, including ramp size and gradient.

Doorway width

Our doorway is quite narrow.

The doorway has an internal width of approximately 72cm / 28 inches. To allow safe clearance, access may be difficult for wheelchairs, scooters or mobility aids wider than approximately 61cm / 24 inches.

If you are unsure whether your wheelchair or mobility device will fit, please contact us before visiting and we will do our best to advise.

Shop layout and space inside

The shop is very small, which may make it difficult for some people to move around safely and comfortably.

There are clothing rails, a counter and a small changing room within a limited floor space. The plan view below shows the approximate layout and available space inside the shop.

If the shop is quiet, we can usually move things where possible to give visitors more space. During busy periods this may be more difficult.

Busy periods

Sundays can be incredibly busy because of Columbia Road Flower Market, which attracts large numbers of visitors.

The shop is very small and can fill up quickly with only a few customers inside. At busy times, this can create access difficulties for disabled and non-disabled visitors.

For a quieter visit, we recommend coming on a weekday where possible. If you would prefer to visit at a quieter time, please contact us in advance and we can advise on when the shop is usually less busy.

Changing room

Our changing room is small.

Due to the size of the shop, we sadly do not have enough space for a purpose-built accessible changing room.

If you are not able to use the changing room, we are happy to offer a 14 day return period so you can try items on at home. Returned items must be unworn, unused and returned in saleable condition.

If you need a longer return period for accessibility reasons, please contact us before purchasing and we will do our best to help.

Assistance dogs

Assistance dogs are welcome in the shop.

Other ways we can help

If visiting the shop is difficult, we are also happy to help by email with product measurements, fit advice, fabric details and additional photographs.

If there is anything that would make your visit easier, please contact us in advance. We are a very small shop, but we will always do what we reasonably can to help.
